Lawrence Taylor’s Son Is Auctioning His Super Bowl Ring, Not LT Himself

Yesterday, news hit that Lawrence Taylor was putting his Super Bowl XXV, which he won with the New York Giants, up for auction. Most people jumped to conclusions and figured that Taylor must be in need of some quick money. After all, the legendary linebacker’s life isn’t going too smoothly, lately.

According to LT himself, this is not the case. In fact, he was as surprised as everyone else to find out that his ring is up for auction.

According to Taylor’s agent, Mark Lepselter, Taylor gave the ring to his son, TJ, and assumed it was safe there. Lepselter apparently called Taylor to ask about the auction and Taylor was completely unaware of what he was talking about.

“Lawrence was in fact unaware of it but said he gave it to TJ and its his right to do what he wants with it,” Lepselter told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. “He’s fine with whatever TJ decided.”

That’s a pretty chill dad. If I had won a Super Bowl and gave the ring to my son as a gift, you can be damn sure that I would not be cool with him selling it off.

Bidding on the ring is already up to nearly $90,000.
