Chris Andersen Child Porn Scandal Rocks NBA World

NBA player Chris “Birdman” Andersen is under investigation by federal authorities, according to multiple reports. The focus of the investigation? Those two words that no one wants to hear: child pornography.

Authorities from the Internet Crimes Against Children unit have reportedly seized property, presumed to be one or more computers or hard drives, from Andersen’s home. The seizure is said to be related to an ongoing investigation into the distribution of child porn.

Andersen, 33, has yet to be arrested. At this point, it is unclear whether he is the focus of the investigation or of it is another individual living at his residence. It doesn’t look good, though.

Andersen is said to have cooperated with the investigation thus far. The Internet Crimes Against Children reportedly received a tip in February that led to where we are today.

Andersen was present for the Denver Nuggets’ morning practice session today. The Nuggets are set to play an elimination playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. Andersen has not seen even a minute of action in the series so far.

  1. Man this is a lot of speculation so far, and it’s probably going to ruin the guy’s life and career no matter what happens.

*reportedly* seized property (reported by whom?)
*presumed* to be one or more computers or hard drives (why presume that?)
    *unclear* etc…

It’s good to make clear what isn’t known at this point, but even this sort of reporting can really screw things up for someone. I almost wish it wasn’t reported on at all until more is known. It’s like yelling fire in a crowded theater when all you’ve seen is a hazy glimpse of something out of the corner of your eye that could be smoke, or could be steam off someone’s popcorn.

  2. Can’t believe what people will speculate for a story. Simply stunning!
