For years, it seemed like Victoria Jackson had the market cornered when it came to former SNL stars with annoying voices making ultra-conservative, often misinformed statements in public.
Now, it looks like she might have some competition.
Jon Lovitz has a podcast called The ABC’s of SNL where he definitely doesn’t just keep re-living the brief period of his life when he was actually successful (just kidding–that’s totally what he does). On a recent episode, he had some choice words for the POTUS. Take a listen:
“This whole thing with Obama saying the rich don’t pay their taxes is f***ing bulls***,” said Lovitz. “And I voted for the guy, and I’m a Democrat. What a f***ing a**hole. The rich don’t pay their taxes?”
Lovitz insisted that he’s a Democrat and voted for Obama, so he hasn’t gone full Victoria Jackson yet. He even had some nice things to say about Obama, saying that he’s “amazing” and calling him a great example of someone who worked hard to earn everything he has achieved.
“He had nothing,” said Lovitz. “He had no father. He was, you know, of mixed race which is a burden in the United, don’t kid yourself, you know, growing up like that, and no money, and the guy ends up being at Harvard. He’s the president of the United States. And now he’s like, f*** me!”
It appears that Lovitz’s main beef is with the idea that the rich should pay a 50 percent tax rate. He insisted that everyone gets the same tax breaks and deductions, not just the rich.
Lovitz’s comments elicited laughter from other guests on the podcast, but film director Kevin Smith (who runs the network the podcast is a part of) tried to calm Lovitz down on a few occasions.
“Stop yelling at the 99 percent,” Smith urged.
