New Breeds Recognized At Westminster Dog Show, Best In Show Announced

You know, dawg, they are still discovering new species of dogs, dawg.

Or at least, finding more official ways to recognize them. The ponciest of competitions, the minciest and most hard-fought title bouts since Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan went head to head were held yesterday, crowning the best in shows, best in breeds, and best and most crazy perfectionists to ever breed dogs – the Westminster dog show. Whichever dog breed is the winner will receive a boost in sales and pricing, as children and parents around the world gather to snap up the most beautiful examples of their breed.

The big breed winner? Best in show? Malachy, the Pekingese with hair like a windswept Beverly Hills Housewife. In other dog news that you might find either poignant or irritating depending on how you view the critters – Uggie won a Golden Collar award, for the best dog portrayal in television or film, and eight new breeds were recognized by the AKC, including the xolo, national dog of Mexico.

The fact that it’s taken this long to recognize the national dog of Mexico might ordinarily have irritated a quick-tempered man such as myself, but it’s far too easy to be hypnotized by Malachy’s hair.

Congratulations to the pooch.
