Pat Sajak should be all of our heroes. He’s not as bold as a man who’d pick up a gun and fight for our country, but he’s as self-aware as you can expect from a man whose job is to watch someone spill wheels and letters around.
Wheel of Fortune has been running for a long, long time, making it one of the most lucrative gameshows to ever be put on the air, and stars of the hosts, Pat Sajak and Vanna White. But in a recent interview, he revealed one of his biggest running secrets – that during early tapings of the show, he’d host while drunk. Good on him. I think you’d be able to do most things during a taping of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ completely inebriated and under the influence. You’d have to be nearly comatose to not be able to talk briefly to contestants and tell them that their letters weren’t on the board. Apparently, White and Sajak would head over to a happy-hour bar in Burbank, get loaded on margaritas, then come back and make the show. The earlier tapes of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ that are floating around feature an inebriated Sajak.
Here’s hoping this spurs on more celebrity confessions, like, Alex Trebek. With the way his mustache looks, I’m sure he busied his time doing scandalous things like taking upskirt photos of whomever catches his fancy.
