Paula Deen Has Type-2 Diabetes

Is this surprising for anyone? Is anyone at all wondering why this is happening and doesn’t know the basics of how food can affect human biology? Let’s hope not. One of America’s most popular chefs is coming under flack.

Paula Deen is known for her down-home southern cooking, for making delicious biscuits and dishes that are coated in abnormally large amounts of butter. So much so that with a lot of them, you’d be cutting calories and getting more nutritional content if you decided to man up and just eat the butter. The design of her dishes has made her a popular target for celebrity chefs like Anthony Bourdain, who claims that she’s doing everything she can to kill Americans, and that she’s the worst, most dangerous person in the country. She might not be the worst person in the country, but she’s pretty cannily positioning herself to take advantage of the diagnosis she got three years ago — by signing a multimillion dollar deal to hawk diabetes medication.

Good for Paula. She can sell a fantasy, then when reality comes crashing down on her and she can’t ride her waves of butter any longer, she can sell the solution to that reality. I just think she’s a well-meaning lady, but really, really incompetent.

One Response to Paula Deen Has Type-2 Diabetes

  1. This is just an example of moderation — if you cook this way every day, then you’re gonna get fat followed by type 2 diabetes. It’s cool to enjoy a chicken fried steak, just follow it up with a nice jogging session and a week of eating healthy.

Side note: Those loud adds on this page that reoccur every minute or so are REALLY annoying.
