Ron Paul is Going to win Iowa

By James Sheldon on December 28th, 2011

What. The Heck. Is going on with the Grand Old Party?

A Libertarian is now leading the Iowa polls substantially. Well, perhaps the lead isn’t substantial, but the statement is–considering he wasn’t supposed to stand a chance. The grassroots movement that began decades ago as an American Libertarian scoring some love from Texas voters seems to finally be resonating throughout the nation.

The Ron Paul Revolution is scoring support from all those independents who leaned toward Obama and his silver tongue in 2007-2008. This is really quite unbelievably awesome, if you’re a true independent like myself. Not about the win, but about the mixing of paints. No real red, no real blue…just a mish-mash of liberty and purple.

Neocons have started to attack Paul, swinging wildly for his grandpa jewels below the belt. It is supremely entertaining. Supremely. Swing away as they might, their support systems are bailing. Kent Sorenson, the Iowa Senator who was Michelle Bachmann’s last hope, jumped ship to camp Paul tonight.

At present the polls show Paul leading Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, sitting at 24 percent to the nearest, Newt’s 20 percent. This would be an upset of gargantuan proportion. Huge. And it’s rather exciting. Again. The whole “mixing it up” thing. Don’t know what it is about this guy, but it is somewhat reminiscent of a read of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, and the fact that American’s do want liberty over liability and fairness over equality.

Going to be a very interesting 2012.
