This just keeps getting better.
As you’re probably well aware, Iran claimed to have “shot down” a U.S. drone last week. While the U.S. didn’t immediately respond that it belonged to the United States, it was eventually revealed that the missing drone went down after doing reconnaissance work in Afghanistan. I love that explanation. Come on. Let’s just say we’re looking for nukes in Iran, and let that be that. The Iranians were so stoked to “shoot” this drone down, that they took pictures with it, and published them. The very photo you see right now.
Maybe it’s me. But…doesn’t an air vehicle being shot down usually equate to some sort of damage? Does that drone look damaged? Again. Maybe it’s me. So. Let’s be honest here, Iran. You found the drone, which had malfunctioned, and now you intend to keep it.
According to a high ranking military general in Iran, “No nation welcomes other countries’ spy drones in its territory…and no one sends back the spying equipment and its information back to the country of origin.” You certainly can’t argue with that, however, this does stir the pot a bit–depending on any given foreign policy.
Things between the United States and Iran have been less than friendly for many, many years now. Iran has stated that it has almost “decoded” the drone, and are going to “reverse engineer” the machine and share its secrets with America’s rivals.
Rivals? Like Duke vs. UNC? Ohio State vs. Michigan? Yankees and Red Sox?
Good luck with that, Iran. Just know that the technology has already been surpassed stateside.
