Alec Baldwin is a natural treasure, according to none other than…well, Alec Baldwin.
Saturday Night Live is slowly circling the drain, the majority of talent that’d ordinarily be going to them instead opting to be on different networks, writing for the Daily Show or a number of sitcoms on NBC. The sketches have gotten worse, the clearance they need from celebrities choking the sense of artistic exploration that once was the show’s hallmark – but occasionally the show offers up some good fare. Like this weekend, when Alec Baldwin appeared to make light of his incident where he was tossed off American Airlines for playing ‘Words With Friends’.
Alec Baldwin is notoriously hard to deal with, but goddamned if the man hasn’t produced some of the funniest television in the last twenty years. Watch as he lampoons American Airlines for being bankrupt next to Seth Meyers, feining nervousness.
Don’t be nervous, Seth Meyers. This is the funniest thing you’ve been involved in for a long while. Maybe if Baldwin smothered him with his airline cap, we’d be able to look forward to a decade of Saturday Night Live that’d actually be good enough to re-air.
