The NFL isn’t exactly known for being the friendliest place for people’s brains to come and play, but Jesus Christ. There’s no reason why people should be taking these kind of hits and being put back into the game.
Colt McCoy was a collegiate football star, leader of the Texas Longhorns at UT – a school with an incredibly proud football tradition. He then entered the NFL where he was placed as starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, a football team in a city whose biggest sports attraction left in one of the most publicized decisions recently. The Browns haven’t been a winning football team for decades. But in the midst of all of these disputes between owners and players, with officials, and scientists that insist we need to stop hitting our heads repeatedly – it’s disconcerting to watch players purposefully trying to hurt each other. James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers delivered a late hit that resulted in McCoy effectively being knocked unconscious temporarily…only to be put back in the game.
If I’m run over by part of the Pittsburgh Steeler’s defensive line, I am not just popping back up again and going on the field.
So what do you think? Bad decision by the Browns, or did Colt McCoy know what he was doing?
