The road was long, winding, and paved with stories of debauchery that seemed excessive for Nero – but finally Tiger Woods is back on top of the golf world.
You might’ve remember Tiger Woods being one of the best athletes in the world reduced to a punch-line, like Magic Johnson, if instead of starting a charity and contributing to the world, people just harbored huge amounts of schadenfreude against him. Woods went from being one of the best golfers in the world to a casual symbol of infidelity and how even the most boring celebrities can have sex lives that dwarf yours in freakiness. He went from willing tons of tournaments a year to just scraping by, oftentimes not making the cut at major competitions – but that changed at a golf course in Thousand Oaks.
After going two years without a win, Tiger found himself on a position he hadn’t been in a while (stow your jokes)…on top. He’d been in contention for a winning position three different times this year, whiffed them all, but collected the 1.2 million dollar paycheck for his charity after winning the Chevron World Challenge.
Weirdly, it’s good to see him being successful after everybody decried him as an antichrist with a putter.
