Brad Pitt was at a special screening of his recent film Moneyball on Sunday. He was gracious enough to stick around for a little Q&A afterwards.
The Moneyball story is quite inspirational, and eye opening to those who have a limited perspective of sports–it tells the non-fictional meld of the the Billy Beane story, and his development of a small market winner in Oakland during the early 21st century. The book is great, the film has been very well received, and the film’s star–well, he handled pressure with grace when confronted with an interesting line of commentary after the screening.
During the Q&A, a struggling actor opened up to Pitt about being depressed and having suicidal thoughts because of his struggles. He wanted Pitt to know that he found the film quite uplifting–in his words, it offered a “renewed sense of hope,” and a new perspective.
The gent was choked up when speaking to Pitt, and then Pitt took the baton and offered some words of encouragement to his fellow man:
It certainly is about perspective and a bigger view and about the long run,” Pitt said. “I think that’s something we often forget with art, is that there’s the long run. Things are cyclical. When you’re up, you’re up, and when you’re down, you’re down. But it’s moving – always moving. I think that’s an important thing to remember. And it’s a big part of this film.
Pitt went on to say more, and then took the time to have a personal chat with the guy after the session.
A good way to start a Monday.
