Unemployment Falls For November

By Mark Lorenz on December 3rd, 2011

It’s about time we got some good news about the economy. We’ve been drudging through sadness for the last few years for so long that a little respite is welcome and so necessary.

Especially to punish the people decrying Obama for not being able to create jobs quickly enough after a period of rampant spending and economic fudgery. The national unemployment rate has fallen to 8.6 percent in November, adding a total of 120,000 jobs – good news for economists, and good news for bloggers who are trying to find additional side work. Additionally, it’s the lowest level since the economy exploded in 2009. One of the reasons that the unemployment rate fell? People who were unable to find jobs decided to drop out of the work force entirely, a fact which is sad. Sad and evocative of what will continue to happen unless the economy shapes up. The thing is – if there are people out there willing to work, somebody should put them to work. There’s an entire labor force out there going unutilized, which we could use to do things that are interesting.

Like building the world’s biggest ice cream truck and staffing it. I’m clearly not a business major, but let’s make it happen, world braintrust.
