Rocky: The Musical Going To Savagely Beat Theatergoers

By Mark Lorenz on November 23rd, 2011

Imagine the glory of watching a man only talk out of one side of his mouth, beat another human being within an inch of his life, and immediately burst out into singing. It might not sound like a logical thing, but then again, Broadway has never been logical.

Broadway is the place where people engage in gang-fights and then burst into song. The place where people know even if someone dies in a show, it’ll be punctuated by a mournful catchy number in minor. That being said, look at Sylvester Stallone. Does he seem like a man who is full of ideas? He’s written movies, granted, but that was in the 70’s where executives were taking more risks and someone could look at a man literally reinforced with every muscle a human can have and say, ‘You should write movies.’ But he’s got a grand idea now – one that involves singing, dancing, and punching.

A Rocky musical. One of the manliest movies ever created, and they’re going to try to adapt the thing for Broadway. Will they incorporate one movie or all of them? Because I really want to see what song Mr. T is going to sing. Hopefully it’ll be a dainty number that incorporates his penchant or dancing.
