Toyota Recalls Vehicles…Again

By James Sheldon on November 9th, 2011

Good grief.

It’s now obvious that there was a serious funk rolling through Toyota’s mojo for about 10 years.

It apparently started in R&D, moved quickly through the design and engineering process and found its way into manufacturing, before you bought it and started driving it with its unknown potential hazards. Everything from braking issues to the runaway Prius–who knew Toyota would serve as a harbinger of the depression we now endure.

I seriously wonder if someone was totally depressed about something? That one of the heads of engineering in Japan was going through a divorce? Or maybe they were trying to lose weight by overhauling their diet? Somewhere in the mix they just said, “F*** it…if this Prius runs away, it runs away.” I dunno. What I do know is that this brings the Toyota recall total to over 14 million vehicles.

Do you own a Toyota? Are you curious if your vehicle is on the recall list…this time?

Toyota and Lexus V6 models:

2004-05 Camry, Highlander, Sienna and Solara

2004 Avalon

2006 Highlander hybrid

2004-05 ES330 and RX330

2006 RX400h

This is due to an issue with a crankshaft pulley that can affect the steering. Toyota officials have stated that fixes will be available at dealerships in January. They have also recommended that any drivers of these autos should consider a dealer-led inspection if any odd noises develop within the engine compartment. Nothing like that final vote of confidence from the world’s largest automotive manufacturer.
