If you’ve ever seen the movie Requiem for a Dream you know that it does a better job of scaring the average person away from drugs than any D.A.R.E. or S.A.N.E. program ever will. Director Darren Aronofsky took any glamor at all out of drug use and scared the living crap out of people watching. Well now he’s making anti-drug PSA’s and doing the same thing. These are very powerful videos that should be shown to everyone. Check out a couple here and you can see the rest MethProject.org
PErsonally, I think these are fantastic. They are dark and gritty which is what kids these days need to see. I also think that Requiem for a Dreamshould be showed to 6th graders and it would work wonders. Kids don’t get to see (SPOILER WARNING) a rotted arm of a junkie become infected and need to be cut off, hard jail time for dealers, electro-shock therapy being performed on an old lady or, the most graphic part, what the term “ass to ass” means and how far people will go to satisfy their addictions. Get all the signed permission slips you need, but show these PSA’s and the movie to kids. Even watching this clip of the last few minutes of the movie will work wonders. Just hearing the music for this gives me the creeps.
