MGM has announced the title for the 23rd chapter in the James Bond, 007 franchise: Skyfall. Yeah. I have no idea what it means. I’m guessing that we’ve got several months before we see anything more than a few still and teaser trailers…
Remember when the jury was out on Daniel Craig before Casino Royale?
It only took five minutes of that film to present enough evidence to the jury, and proclaim the arrival of a truly revamped 007 franchise. Actually…the opening title sequence was enough for me. Daniel Craig was never an issue or a concern in this humble mind.
22: Quantum of Solace. Underrated. Slightly more subtle than Casino, but full of some vintage Bond moments that the average moviegoer probably didn’t notice, or even perhaps care for.
23: Skyfall. The amount of talent assembled in this cast, including the present standard of Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, combined with newcomers Ralfp Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris and French honey Berenice Marlohe. Don’t know who she is? You will. Everyone will be asking about this relatively unknown in American cinema. Calling the shots: Sam Mendes.
I’m a James Bond fan. It’s not my religion, but it’s pretty undeniable that this Bond No. 23 has the potential to be a spike in the graph that represents the history of the 007 saga. The film is presently in production, and scheduled for a release of November 9, 2012. Mendes and the gang have been very hush-hush about the driving force of the film, but knowing the way he runs his ship, cast chemistry and performances will be as tight as the vehicles used for stunts, travel and explosions throughout what I’m guessing will be about 2 hours and 17 minutes of running time.
