I’m probably like most of you. I don’t claim a political party. However, a quote of the late Ronald Reagan comes to mind: “The best minds are not in government. If any were, businesses would steal them away.”
Local governments are doing everything they can to quell the Occupy movements, wherever they spark. The protests turned violent in Oakland, and if you caught any of the video, it seems that cowardice in some of our uniformed units seems to be typical in this new protestant age. Regardless, whether strong-arming the people, or pushing new bureaucracy and ordinances on the Occupy movement, local officials are finding ways to make the occupation as difficult as possible.
In New York, authorities (NYFD) came through Zuccotti Park and jacked–excuse me–confiscated a bunch of generators. The way I see it, gas in the generators is spurring the local economy–occupants are also eating, aren’t they? Are the local businesses not happy that the folks are around? That’s who I want to hear from. Digressing.
Many occupants are crying foul, and rightly so. Many are stating that the city needs to return the property back to the owners, but with law in place, they should know better. Not gonna happen. So. What are they gonna do for power? How about generate themselves with a little manpower generator.
The participants in Boston and New York have gone to bicycles that serve as motors that are able to create enough power to charge batteries, which in turn are used to power the Occupy encampments.
Whattaya think of that, Mayor Bloomberg? If only some progressive thinking individuals were on your staff, huh?
