We needed somebody to come and make fun of the never-ending line of terrible reality shows being pumped out of networks like MTV – and finally we have those people, even though those people are transplants from the mid-90’s. All hail Beavis and Butthead.
Beavis and Butthead are back on MTV, making fun of their mainstays like Teen Mom and Jersey Shore. More importantly, Beavis & Butthead are an example of what happens when you redo television for a different time and age and do it right. Hundreds of shows have been relaunched by networks but never with an intent and cultural bent, never with a necessity. Did we need to see another Bionic Woman? We certainly didn’t need to see another Knight Rider. Sucks for the ‘powerhouse’ television station that NBC is supposed to be, but just right for Beavis & Butthead to come back and just berate all of the terrible television that thrown in our faces.
Unfortunately for us they can only do shows that MTV airs, if they wanted to branch out they could show other network properties from Viacom, but for now be contended Beavis & Butthead are back glued to their couches and have our backs. The first episode back managed to draw a 3 million viewers share, pretty impressive numbers for cable network.
Keep it up, boys.
