St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers NOT for Weak-Hearted Fans

By James Sheldon on October 28th, 2011

The 2011 World Series has proven to possess the elements of an instant classic. Records have been tied, records have been set, records have been broken. In a game that is known for meticulous statistics, the completely illogical and unpredictable has taken center stage in this Fall Classic.

Yep. It’s a reminder that baseball can still serve as a most incredible pastime, and a suggestion that if you’re a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals or Texas Rangers, you need to always carry a bottle of Pepto Bismol…Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion, Upset Stomach, Diarrhea!

If your heart is weak, or your ulcers run strong, this is not the world series for you. Aside from the exception of Game 3, each team has been in every one of these games, right into the 9th inning…or 10th…or 11th. And considering the exception of Game 3, both teams were very much in it until Albert Pujols went off post-5th inning.

Baseball needed this. The 2011 post-season has been incredibly awesome! And the World Series, starring two mid-market teams…another reminder that chemistry, leadership and good old fashioned hard work can offer a sweet counterbalance to pieced and paid talents who are chasing championships for the owner who has the most cash. Don’t read me wrong, both the Rangers and Cardinals have marquee talent, but in the relative grand scheme, their teams are paid modestly.

Game 6. Geez. Did that really happen? Can Texas bounce back? Can the Cardinals come out with some sugar and spice, or did they lose their flavor after last night’s last breath comeback?

Chris Carpenter will take to the bump for the Cardinals, and Matt Harrison will go for the Rangers.

After tweaking his ankle last night on a slide into second, Mike Napoli will go tonight. His X-rays were negative. Nelson Cruz is also a go, after straining his groin late in Game 6.

For the Cardinals, Matt Holliday has been pulled from the active roster with a sprained right wrist, and rookie Adron Chambers will fill his roster spot.

I’m ready to go! How about you? Any bold predictions? The action begins tonight on FOX. Pregame at 7:30 EDT with the first pitch set for right around 8:05EDT/5:05PDT.
