Oh I hope she works through this bit of a mess — she’s a darling and a treasure to anybody who likes country music. Loretta Lynn has been hospitalized with pneumonia.
For those of you unfamiliar with the oeuvre of Loretta Lynns’ work, you need to do get yourself to computer or drag yourself to a record store, or put on a red wig and head towards to coal mines, because you’re missing out on the greatest back catalog country music has to offer. Famous for her song ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’, between her legacy in country music achievement and more recently the albums she cut with Jack White — Loretta Lynn is a national treasure. Unfortunately when you’re national treasure, it means you’re really old no young national treasure running around getting all the attention and all the accolades gets sent to the hospital with pneumonia. Knowing the strength and persistence that netted her 16 number 1 hits over a 7 year period, she should be able to pull through.
We’re all rooting for you, Loretta. Death isn’t woman enough to take you away from us. You’re the only country star hardcore enough to write a song about birth control — think of the balls it takes to do that. Death can’t manhandle those balls, despite all the previous cupping he’s done.
