It’s finally here. The superhero movie to end all superhero movies – The Avengers.
Not the entire thing, but an adequate teaser-trailer to whet the nerd appetites around the globe who are smacking their lips at the prospect of seeing the biggest and most star-studded cast superhero movie since the first incarnations of the X-Men. You might’ve seen the trailers for The Avengers at the end of every movie – but this is the one that’ll be running on TV and on the inter-webs for a while.
What’s shown? Tom Hiddleston’s Loki character talking about how the earth is meant to be ruled over, explosions, and tensions between the group flaring. And specifically, Robert Downey – because Iron Man is still the most successful film franchise for any of Avengers.
With direction and a script by Joss Whedon this could either be really, really good, or Dollhouse-level bad. The benefit? We’ll have another six months to be bombarded with advertisements for them, so we’ll be able to do the detective-work on our own.
So far, I’m sold. But who’s doing the attacking on Earth? How are we going to see The Hulk portrayed in this movie?
This any many more questions will be answered this May. Along with the inevitable – is this going to gross more than Iron Man?
