Is the Halo Movie Actually Going to Happen?

By James Sheldon on October 7th, 2011

Fanboys rejoice! Master Chief and the gang may actually make it to the big screen. Or will they? According to a French report, there is a supposed development of a Halo book entitled, Halo: Cryptum.

Said incarnation has also supposedly drawn interest from Hollywood superpowers Dreamworks and the man himself, Steven Spielberg. Apparently it’s something that could be put into motion within the next year.

As you’re well aware, if you saw District 9, the forward momentum for the Halo feature film has been lost somewhere in Purgatory. District 9 was a salvage product of what was collected from Peter Jackson’s initial involvement with the franchise, but no Master Chief. No Elites. Just Prawns. Awesome Prawns, but none of the Spartan story line that Halo nerds (myself included, and I’m not even a gamer) are wanting and have wanted to see.

Any validity to the claims of this obscure French Press Release? Not according to Microsoft. Bill Gates boys say the claims are baseless and inaccurate.

According to the end-all, be-all of computer technologies, there is no plan for a book, and certainly no plan for an adapted feature film to begin filming in 2012. The Halo franchise is presently focused on Halo 4 and Halo: Anniversary.

I guess we should be inclined to take it from the horse’s mouth, but I’m going to cling to the faint glimmer of nerdly hope.
