Two Guys From Denver Play “Weekend at Bernie’s”

By James Sheldon on September 16th, 2011

Instead of Bernie, this fella was named Jeffrey Jarrett. He was 43.

Jarrett passed away last month–the cause of which is still being investigated.

The Denver area resident had a roommate, or a friend living with him by the name of Robert Young, 43. Young returned home on August 27, to find that his friend was unresponsive–possibly dead. Perhaps Young was shocked, or surprised, or perhaps Young was aware that Mr. Jarrett would be dead when he returned. Right now there is a only speculation, and a weird freakin’ runaround story that ensued upon finding Jarrett’s unresponsive/deceased body.

Joining Young, another friend of Jarrett/Young, Mark Rubinson, 25, avoided calling police, 9-1-1 or a member of Jarrett’s family for help. Instead, they grabbed the dead body of their friend and hit the town for one last night out together.

The two living and one deceased piled into Rubinson’s ride, hit a bar in Denver, then hit a bar in Aurora, before taking Jarrett home. Jarrett picked up the tab, of course. Later in the evening Young and Rubinson scored $400 from Jarrett’s account. Young and Rubinson then trekked to a Mexican restaurant and another bar in Glendale, which has been reported as a strip club. One can only suspect to commiserate…drown their sorrows in lap dances?

At the end of the night, they flagged down a cop, and reported that they thought Jarrett was dead, and really only figured it out when they went to the second bar.

According to CBS:

“Rubinson and Young face charges of abusing a corpse, identity theft and criminal impersonation.”
