Facebook Is The Biggest Time-Waster On The Internet

By Mark Lorenz on September 12th, 2011

You already knew that. You were on it right now, checking out the boobs of a girl that you’ll never meet and who will never know that you’re stalking her.

Internet scholars and statistic collectors have been wondering on which site users have spent the most minutes — which internet vacuum people pour in billions of hours or minutes, just so they can change their profile pictures and check on what their friends are doing? You probably guessed already. MySpace. Hahaha, just kidding. It’s Facebook. People have wasted the most time collectively on Facebook. Keep in mind, the data collected in no way incorporated videogames such as World of Warcraft or Call of Duty. American internet users spent over 53.3 billion minutes collectively looking at Facebook. That is enough time — when crowdsourced — to conceivably cure cancer and find ways to provide for the billions of people who don’t have food.

Instead, you’re spending it sending people events that they’ll probably never go to. Blogger comes in at second, raking in 723 million minutes a month, Twitter has received 565 million minutes. Facebook gets roughly 467 billion hits a month.

Congratulations to the people at the top of the Facebook pyramid. May you get even richer, and contribute nothing, really, except internet space.
