If we all made films about the people we hatefully rant about, the world would be a much more interesting place. And I would’ve made 30 movies about Aziz Ansari.
Mel Gibson’s career has taken a nosedive that he hasn’t recovered from – from Zach Galifianakis’ ballsy request to not have him back in The Hangover II to headlining what people claimed was ‘the best script’ of the last ten years – The Beaver. The Beaver wound up grossing a whopping million dollars, while The Hangover II managed to gross hundreds of millions. All the while Mel was suffering from a very public split with his girlfriend, and telling her that she should be raped by packs of wild ethnic slurs. So he’s had a very interesting last few years. Now, he wants to re-enter our lives in a way that nobody would ever expect or understand…
He’s going to make a movie about Judah Macabee. For Warner Bros. Yes, this sounds like a plot from Entourage, but no – it’s actually happening. Mel Gibson will get his way and direct a Jewish hero. He’ll get his way entirely, producing and directing the movie – COLLABORATING with Showgirls screenwriter Joe Eszterhas.
I have no words. Just a promise to buy tickets opening weekend.
