College Football Season Kicks-Off Tonight!

It’s perfectly appropriate that we’re enjoying a holiday weekend in the United States, as the 2011 College Football Season gets underway. College Football Season shouldn’t be capitalized, you say? I beg to differ. College Football Season is a proper noun in this country, and its subjects are loyal in celebration.

A slew of games this weekend with monster implications. Everyone is well aware of the Oregon vs. LSU battle that will take place at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas. I’m far too biased to offer an objective breakdown on such a contest, but for those doubting the Tigers due to the recent drama with starting QB Jordan Jefferson–you’re doubting the Tigers for the wrong reason.

The official collegiate season kicks-off tonight in a battle of rising program, UNLV vs. well-established powerhouse, University of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a slight favorite at -35.5… The action starts at 8EDT/5PDT on ESPN.

One of the most intriguing match-ups this weekend, aside from the battle of pre-season #3 and #4 in Oregon and LSU, is Boise State taking on Georgia in Athens. This is a huge step forward for the Boise program, who always seems to be on the outside looking in, hearing the criticism that they don’t play real programs. I can’t state that Georgia is worthy of #19 ranking, but traveling across the country to take on an SEC foe, #5 Boise will earn some much needed respect in their quest for a national title.

Enjoy the action folks, it certainly promises to be another exciting season of NCAA Football.
