It’s a classy business, that world of porn. Oh, wait. That’s not right. Popular?
It’s a popular business, that world of porn. And it’s no surprise that there are many performers within the world of porn who have contracted their share of STD funk.
During a routine examination on Saturday, an undisclosed performer tested positive for HIV, sending the industry scrambling to halt all production, and trace their production logs to figure out who boned who after they boned so and so who just tested positive for HIV.
On top of it, it also means that everyone who has been active in the business since their last examination, heads to the nearest clinic, or calls upon a mobile testing facility that is able to draw a little blood and take a few swabs of hoo-ha’s. This will enable all to breathe their sigh of relief, and then call upon a friend who owns a car dealership to ask if they have any work that pays a somewhat comparable wage for screwing people without actually having to have sex with them.
I love seeing the interviews with the porn peeps, as they stare vapidly into the camera, acting so proud of their business… “We’re constantly tested.” “It’s really safe.” Well. While a few things on set may be within a controlled environment, their personal lives probably play out just as imagined.
There are several among the 3,000-plus porn performers based in the Los Angeles area alone, who are pushing hard for the use of condoms on porn sets. The movement is being led by former “actor” Derrick Burts, who was infected in 2010.
You think this is a good idea? In 2011? With all the knowledge we have about STDs? But then, wisdom and porn will probably never be confused as being synonymous.
