Lee Evans Will add Much to Ravens mix…Your Fantasy Impact

The Baltimore Ravens were in desperate need of a wide receiver, and the Buffalo Bills were looking to unload Lee Evans. Mr. Evans: Welcome to the black and purple.

This adds some fortification to a wide receiver corps that was decimated by free agency–before the move the Ravens group stood as the Anquan Boldin show.

While Ravens rookie WR, Torrey Smith will eventually be a threat in the league, he has much to learn–as was evident against the formidable Eagles defense in last night’s pre-season contest.

Lee Evans has twice gone for over 1,000 yards in a season (’06, ’08)…in Buffalo. Quick. Who was throwing to him in those two seasons? Exactly.

I have no doubt the veteran will find himself the target of more balls this season in Baltimore, especially as Joe Flacco continues to mature and feels more comfortable letting the ball fly. Evans still has plenty life left in his legs, and there is no doubt he will enjoy his new found NFL home.

The trade will allow Smith to move into the third WR role, enabling him the opportunity to learn from two premier veterans. Evans ability to stretch the field should also open up more opportunities for the beast known as Q, who has made a living chewing up yardage inside of the defense.

Fantasy impact: The move should make Evans a decent fantasy prospect, and it should also make Anquan Boldin more of a threat in your fantasy leagues.
