Anonymous Threatens To Kill Facebook

By Mark Lorenz on August 10th, 2011

Anonymous has a new target. The behemoth known as Facebook.

Anonymous has been a target of federal investigations recently, stemming from their hacking of Sony, the Syrian Defense Ministry, PayPal, and countless others. Certain members of the organization have been arrested, certain ones are still on the lam, and their official Twitter account is buzzing that they’re going to go after Mark Zuckerberg’s company. Facebook has offered a 500 dollar reward to anybody who’s capable of hacking their network – they’ve paid out 5000 dollars already. An Anonymous attack to make the entire site go down would be really impressive, but…

Really, the sad part is if you hacked Facebook, nothing bad would happen. It’s still in imaginary virtual world. Once Anonymous starts aiding the uprising of countries, shipping weapons and arms into developing countries, and deciding they want to go into something like distributing narcotics, we’re screwed.

The Internet needs to be messed with more. I support this endeavor – the only problem is that Anonymous doesn’t know what they want to do. Reportedly some members of the group want to hack Facebook, some don’t, and some are too busy trolling.

Will Facebook be able to withstand an attack? Considering how many times I’ve been spammed by them in the last month, probably not.
