Vanilla Ice Makes Bold Prediction About the Biebs

By James Sheldon on July 22nd, 2011

When it comes from Ice, you know it’s a resounding truth.

I read insincere with that statement, don’t I? Nope. Vanilla Ice, aka Rob Van Winkle, is a beacon of truth when it comes to getting hosed in this business, and becoming a laughing stock among the fickle-hearted that once supported your every move–yeah, that’s us.

In terms of being taken advantage of by the sharks in the music industry, I don’t think there has ever been a snow job like the story of Vanilla Ice. No pun intended. I always wonder what might have happened had Vanilla Ice signed with Chuck D and Public Enemy.

Digressing.

Rob recently stated that he can relate to Justin Bieber’s success, due to the fact that he wrote and was performing Ice Ice Baby when he was 16 years old–that he went through what seemed like a weekend that lasted three years. He went on to state:

“So my prediction about Bieber is that he’s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he’s had such success as a child act. Then something else new will come along and he’ll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it’s going to be entertaining to watch.”

It will be interesting to see what goes down with the Bieber. In terms of music, he presently slides perfectly into bubble gum pop. This leaves him a couple of options. He either drops a legit sledge to the music industry in his early 20s when it’s no longer acceptable for a guy to do bubble gum pop, or as so many before him, he tries his hand at acting, fails and then moves on with life. Then again, perhaps we as a people might change? Oh wait–this is reality…right.

Bieber is charming, I’ll give him that, and the entertainment industry has become incredibly broad–no worries, Bieber fans, regardless of the truth of Vanilla, Bieber will be OK.

That having been said: Remember the Jonas Brothers?
