Two of the most legendary fighting games in history are about to meet the only way they can – with iron fists slamming together. Meet Street Fighter X Tekken.
It cannot be overstated how important the Street Fighter series was to the development of the fighter genre – every release after Street Fighter built off the basic mechanics of that interface, and each subsequent release managed to bring in millions of dollars from arcades and from rabid fans – enough to turn the videogame series into a beloved franchise. This past year, it was revitalized by releasing Street Fighter IV for consoles – but the developers were waiting to roll out their biggest surprise; two of the most successful fighting franchises would be fused together in two different games, one with the interface of Street Fighter, and the other Tekken.
Tekken is the popular fighting game that had a run on Sony’s Playstation systems at the end of the 90’s and throughout the last decade. And scores of nerds got to look at Street Fighter X Tekken at San Diego’s Comic-Con, where a cinematic preview has been making the rounds all across the internet.
