I blame Billy Corgan. Like we should for all pejorative conditions in the world. Billy Corgan is the reason why people shave their head when they shouldn’t, and why people whine.
For years, the beauty industry has been convincing women that they’re too big, their noses are too pointy, they have no ankles, no proper cleavage to hold up their dresses, that their eyelashes are too tiny for glamor, that they need to slather on foundation so their skin looks smooth, get implants so people notice them more, and a hundred different lies to create a billion dollar industry based on people feeling bad about themselves. People want to feel younger. They want to feel sexier. They want a perfect body.
That need to perfection is extending over to males now, with cases of male eating disorders on the rise. According to hospital admissions in England, there has been a 66 percent rise in admissions for men with eating disorders in the past decade. Isn’t that nice ladies? Between constantly judging you for your appearance, men are starting to feel the burden. That number doesn’t include the number of men injecting themselves with PEDs so they can look like barrel-chested superheroes.
We all need to stop concentrating on how we look and start concentrating on how delicious food is.
