Simon Cowell has been absent from the television scene since 2010, no doubt rolling around and caressing his piles of money in his bedroom mint.
Or it could be, after he’s tired of all the money and woman dying for his harsh but even-handed approval, he was working on the next big television show to air on the US shores – a port of the UK smash ‘The X-Factor’, which is where American Idol initially copped their stylo. So now, the commercial blitz is happening – the new promo features Simon Cowell driving an electric car, wearing a pink sweater, and loving everybody. A far cry from his normal image.
The new show combines the star-making tastes of LA Reid, cofounder of LaFace Records, which has brought us a multitude of stars over the years, Paula Abdul (Simon’s primary squeeze), and for some reason, Nicole Scherzinger. That’s right, the girl from the Pussycat Dolls who was never able to get her own solo career of the ground is going to be coaching the youngins about how they’ll be able to do the same.
Will the X-Factor be a hit? Will Scherzinger be able to then convert the media exposure into a hit single (finally)?
