…and by lay it down, I mean he will lay you down–or lay anyone down who he deems to be in his way.
Harrison has dropped several gems in an interview that will appear in next month’s Men’s Journal. I’ve never been a reader of Men’s Journal, I have never purchased a Men’s Journal…but I will certainly be snagging a copy of this.
Any chance to ride on a wagon that is offensively attacking Roger Goddell, I’m on it. What did Harrison say? A bunch of stuff–enjoy a few highlights.
On Goddell:
My rep is James Harrison, mean son of a (gun) who loves hitting the hell out of people. But up until last year, there was no word of me being dirty — till Roger Goddell, who’s a crook and a puppet, said I was the dirtiest player in the league. I hate him and will never respect him.
On QB Ben Roethlisberger:
Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again. Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain’t that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does.
On the 2004 Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots
I should have another ring. We were the best team in football in 2004, but the Patriots, who we beat during the regular season, stole our signals and picked up 90% of our blitzes (in the AFC title game). They got busted for it later, but, hey, they’re Goodell’s boys, so he slapped ‘em $500,000 and burned the tapes. Was he going to rescind their Super Bowls? Man, hell no!
I know for a fact that he also calls Gooddell a “dictator” and a “devil,” and refers to teammate Rashard Mendenhall as a “fumble machine.” Men’s Journal is going straight up Yellow Journalism in August!
Steelers team president, Art Rooney II’s response:
I have not yet seen the article in Men’s Journal nor have I spoken to James Harrison about his comments. We will discuss the situation at the appropriate time, when permitted once the labor situation is resolved.
Once the labor situation…is resolved. Oh. That’s right. There is no functioning NFL at present, is there? Which makes all present contracts null. Sorry, Art, you lost all credibility about punishing players when your golden boy QB turned out to be a rapist.
