The Dark Knight is one of the highest-grossing films of all time, netting over a billion dollars in box-office, one of the first Academy Awards ever awarded for a performance in a comic book movie, and enough clout to allow Christopher Nolan to make Inception. Basically, it’s one of the movies that nerds will be talking about for the next 40 years. When you’re 80, people will be like, ‘I know you can get movies beamed directly into your eyes, but remember how amazing The Dark Knight was?’
And the new movie is getting enough hype that internet bloggers and columnists are describing the teaser trailers. Have you ever heard of another movie where people spend their time and energy describing a two-minute videoclip? Insanity.
The point is, this week, the poster for Nolan’s new box-office tornado was leaked to the internet, depicting a city crumbling and a bat silhouette illuminating the night. What does this mean?
