It’s a sad, yet predictable state of affairs. Amy Winehouse, the enchantress who captured everyone’s hearts circa 2006, still hasn’t been able to get clean.
Not with millions of dollars in her pocket, a brilliant record that desperately needs a sequel, or an impending European tour. At a certain point, it was a beguiling part of her personality – a terrible drunk who happened to be one of music’s brightest shining stars. At this point, it’s like, ‘Well, Jesus, I hope she doesn’t kill anybody in the process of trying to sing a song.’ Winehouse was prepping for her impending European tour, where she was booed offstage in Serbia. You know what terrible things have transpired in Serbia? That means Serbians took one look at Amy Winehouse, and were like – ‘No more. I cannot bring this country any more pain.’
She was booed after barely completing her sets. Tickets cost a ridiculous amount for the Serbians, and promptly after getting offstage, she cancelled the arm of her tour going through Greece and Turkey. Istanbul and Athens don’t need any more black-haired devil-women coming to wreck everybody’s sense of well-being.
It’s sad, though, because she was one of pop musicf’s bright spots. And now she’s out.
