Rebecca Black Pulled From YouTube??

By Mark Lorenz on June 17th, 2011

Remember Rebecca Black, temporarily celebrity, casualty of the internet, and now – the girl who thinks that because her music has been viewed 120 million times – she has a career?

Of course you do. She just had a starring turn in the Katy Perry video alongside Hanson, Kenny G, and various other celebrities. But her claim to fame has been pulled off of YouTube. There is no more ‘Friday’ video for you to get down on Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Monday, and other undiscovered days. The reason being? She’s tied up in litigation with Ark Music, the company that filmed the video – over who has rights to the song ‘Friday’. Because that’s how much the music video ‘Friday’ is worth. Are you serious? That’s how poor the people who run Ark Music are? They desperately need all of Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ money?

That’s how deluded Rebecca Black is – that she thinks that her career is going to go beyond the initial hiccup that ‘Friday’ was, and now lawyers will be tied up litigating dinky internet-fame videos for years – surely they will be the ones who emerge victorious.

Lawyers always win. The song is still available for purchase on iTunes, if you hate your life and ears.

Did you not know that Ark tried to charge people $2.99 to watch her video on YouTube? I would have been upset with that if I was her.

What the Anonymous poster above me says its true. In fact that's the reason why she is disputing this. It was Ark Music Factory that decided to put the video behind a paywall. If one of my youtube videos got singled out behind someone else's paywall, I wouldn't be happy either! She has a legal right to dispute something like a breach of contract like the rest of us, but everyone is trying to make her look because she is using her legal rights...

Additionally, one might think that if she knew she had her 15 minutes, she might be inclined to... oh, I don't know, try to get compensated for her luck because she knows it will not be long term? Ranting is fine, but try feeling around for some perspective before posting a throw away rant about something you know shit about. Also, just because "rebecca black friday" still rates on google trends does not mean it is a worthy topic farm hits with.
