Pakistan Officials Detain CIA Informants

By James Sheldon on June 15th, 2011

Remember that Osama bin Laden fella? Remember how he was hiding in plain sight in Pakistan, and the Pakistani government apparently knew nothing about it…so the United States placed CIA spies next door, who enjoyed excellent information from a few individuals who, as far as they thought, were allies of the United States.

Geez. It seems that Pakistan is thatfriend.” That friend that you need like you need another hole in the head.

Pakistan has placed five individuals under arrest for offering intelligence to CIA spies, including a Pakistani Army Major.

I feel ya. I know what you’re thinking. Both of you. From the American perspective, this is an annoyance–clearly Pakistan dropped the ball in playing ally. From the patriotic perspective, it’s nice to know that someone within the Pakistani military was able see the “greater good.” One less terrorist in the world is a great thing, right?

“Hold on, douchebag!”

Yeah, I hear you hollerin’ at me, and you’re right, too. Pakistan should be able to trust the high ranking members of their military. Trust them not to offer sensitive information to a foreign intelligence agency without at least first receiving permission from their authorities. I get it. But let’s allow common sense to dictate, here.

It would seem, if you were to venture out on the nearest limb, that Pakistan is double dipping. Could it be that the terrorist cells are offering just as much financial fantastic to Pakistan as the United States? All things considered–the Pakistani desire to kill the drone program, and their lackadaisical “yeah, we got it” attitude of helping in the fight against terrorist organizations so American troops in Afghanistan can come home–it would certainly seem that Pakistan is full of crap. Call me crazy.
