You’ve no doubt seen the video where TSA officials pat down a 5 year old? I didn’t think it could get any better/worse than that, then I caught wind of this image from the Kansas City International Airport.
This is the kind of incident that makes me proud to be from Missouri. When I say proud, I mean face-palming, head shaking, eye-rolling pride.
I was reading some comments at USAToday.com–one individual claiming that this “standard protocol” is to ensure that terrorist parents don’t strap their kids with a variety of weaponry. Apparently there have been such cases? Really? When? When and where did this happen? If this is your viewpoint, I’ve got a piece of the sky I’d like to sell you, and 4 acres of lake front property on the moon that I’ll offer you at a stellar price.
From my understanding, Kansas City had gone private for their security–opting out of the TSA assigned, under-qualified and under-trained employees that are making everyone feel so much safer at the vast majority of American airports.
However, the TSA responded to this photo when it went viral via the TSA blog (it’s great reading), stating that everything was done properly–that the family involved, cooperated without incident. I guess the TSA still reigns stupreme (Supreme Stupidity) in Kansas City. The child’s stroller set off security alarms, so apparently that makes the baby and the stroller a singular entity? I dunno. You explain it to me–it’s beyond my comprehension.
I just can’t let this nonsense go. Any chance I get to yell and scream about it, I’ll take it. We are not safer because of the standard security protocol. Every time I see asininity such as this, I can only slide another bead on my mental abacus towards the faceless terrorists. Yeah, we scored 5 beads for the smack on OBL, but c’mon–patting down a baby?
Just watch out for what’s in that diaper, TSA guy.
