May 21 is Judgement Day: Says Dude who Missed Prediction in ‘94

By James Sheldon on May 10th, 2011

Harold Camping. That’s his name, folks. He’s supposedly a Jesus believer, but I just can’t remember Jesus calling anyone to predicting the day of judgement. Camping has long been the voice of Family Radio, a station based in Oakland, California. There are a lot of people who follow his teachings, and are scared and/or excited that an event known as “The Rapture,” is going to occur on May 21.

If you’re freaking out, stop! Seriously.

This Camping cat has been rapping about the rapture for decades.  In 1994 he said that the world was going to end. Now he says that he’s absolutely certain that May 21, 2011, will bring forth the rapture–which he also considers judgment day–due to the fact that it is exactly 7,000 years since Noah boarded the ark with family, animals and what I would imagine were tons and tons of goods. How he pinpointed May 21st? Your guess is as good as his…

So. What is this rapture? Well, there are a few schools of thought on this one. What Camping is suggesting is that all the righteous people who are here on earth are going to be swept away to their heavenly home, while others will be “left behind.”

Apparently being righteous requires that you buy into the fact that May 21st is what Camping says it is. This being the reason that so many of his followers are wigging out–trying to get their families to buy into his apocalyptic prediction. But no worries, if you’re left behind–according to Camping, the world won’t be consumed in fire until October 21, 2011.

I may have to call into Family Radio on May 24th, because I plan to enjoy my weekend, and may catch the St. Louis Cardinals in San Diego on Monday, May 23rd. So. The 24th is the earliest I’ll get around to it. Though I’ll definitely check out the website on the 22nd.

I am sorry to tell you that I very much disagree with your ideas about May 21, 2010. Let me please show you what Christ tells us about the day he will be here. New Living Translation Bible says: "For you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2 it will come UNEXPECTEDLY. Apparently you miss that. Unexpectedly would mean you are not expecting, which would mean you have no knowledge to what is to expect, which would also mean (if you wanna get technical.) there is nothing to expect since it is unexpected. You cannot disrespect this. You should know very well after all "these years" that your radio has been here. (I believe 1959.) And maybe you have forgotten this fact. Let me remind you that you are not the God I worship and God's people will not obey you over his will. Your will is not his own. I am sorry things are not going to go your way. No calculation is better than Christs. He will know when the time will come. It is definetely not any of your own knowledge. There is much more to do within the years. God has much more to offer than what you think. People will change within these years of building the kingdom. I promise you that. Thanks for your time in reading this. Thy kingdom come thy will be done. His will, will be done.

Their are very few "Christians " that are really TRUE Christians... the word Christian means "christ like" from what I remember in my years of research, Jesus didn't have a Pillow to lay his head on .. religion today is nothing but a business, and a very lucrative one. Hopefully all the people who believe this yahoo do disappear into thin air, there'd be alot less idiots in the world. a lot less idiots

If all the religious believers get raptured on the 21st leaving all the non-believing atheists back on earth I'm all for it. As an atheist this sounds like heaven on earth without all the nut jobs running around I think earth is going to be an awesome place to be in about a week. Have a safe trip, don't come back.

I am very sad for those who have been following this lie that the rapture will occur on May 21st. Even if they attempt to explain away “that no one will know the day or the hour of Christ return”, they cannot explain away that many scholars believe that Christians must go through the Great Tribulation prior to the rapture. I pray that they will take a moment and read my book Final Warning because the hour of is His judgment has come. http://www.revelation-truth.org

He's got it all wrong. If you really know scripture, you know that all THE RIGHTEOUS ARE LEFT BEHIND! Revelations says clearly that about rapture, judgment, etc...."just as in the days of Noah.." What happened there? Noah was left and the others were taken away! How about the wheat and tares? Same thing, righteous stay, tares taken away...Sheep and goats? Same thing, sheep stay with Jesus, goats go away...Notwithstanding the no one knows except the Father of the second coming.....Pay attention, people! It's a good thing to be left behind! Hubbard started the whole rapture misinformation in the '70's.

Many people are really unsure of what our future holds. There will be wars and rumors of wars, King will rise against king, nations will rise against nations. There will be famine and pestelance in verous places. Jesus, Himself said,"No one knows the date nor the hour in which I will come." So perdicting the second coming, let alone the rature of the church, is a fools erron. In the mean time we are to continue preaching the good news of Jesus Crucified and raised from the dead, The love of a most Holy God. But head this no beleivers God will not allow the age of grace to continue and He will pour out His Jugdement on this world and on those who are living here, this may include Christains who are not really Christains. When Gods Jugdement is poured out noone will be spared. The faithfull may have to suffer the tribulation, they may not. the issue of the raputer of the church is unclear in my eye, to many other opinions cloud the truth. We see though a glass demly, but over time and as time progress toward that day we may start to see clearly.

Jesus warns about those coming from within the church that would actually tear it apart. This would be done by what they teach which would be patently false. Since they are in the Church, they would teach from the bible but distort its message. As Paul states in 2 Cor.11:13-15 they are false apostles and messengers looking like those who teach righteousness. They may look good on the outside but the life of Christ is not there on the inside and their message will always be with scripture, but distort its meaning. Their focus will be their church or organization instead of Christ.

Seriously...this madness goes much deeper than the endless parade of "prophets" interpreting a sterilized collection of fables (the bible). Consider the things written in these fables...and do a little research for yourself. Monotheism was not invented by hebrews. It was copied and adapted to their culture. This is why they think they are the race chosen by god. They wrote it that way! The story of a coming messiah has been recycled before and after jesus was said to walk the Earth. Yet NOT ONE document can be found that mentions his name during the time he was said to be alive. He raised the dead, walked on water and rose into heaven but no one wrote about it for another 60+ years? Are we to believe that an omniscient being would create human life, choose a favorite based on race, then demand that everyone worship him based on faith alone? What more would you need if you were a god?? Meaningless life forms to reinforce and satisfy your vanity? Forget all this religious garbage - god is a creation of those that need an answer. If you can believe god would be a racist, would murder innocent people over a clerical error (2 Samuel 24), and would be so vain as to require humans to worship him, then you are either an idiot, or too closed-minded to understand our current reality. Sure, god is merely testing everyone to see if they will believe in him or not. And if they don't, he will burn them like a bully with a magnifying glass killing ants on the sidewalk. Really?! Do god's supposed actions and attitudes really fit the image of an omniscient being? Or does it fit with those of a conceited human? No matter what, people will still refuse to simply look at reality - 3000 year old fairy tales are not enough to base your life on. I don't trust anyone that claims to be religious. An intentional ignorance towards logic & rationality is too unpredictable for me. God is a myth, therefore every story, prediction, and calculation based from this root belief is too. Get over it, and donate your monthly/weekly 'god payment' to a reputed scientific organization instead - at least it will help us become more intelligent by learning about our world as opposed to supporting religious fanatics that wish to inhibit our progress. Wake Up!

The Bible states that there will be false prophets and people will believe them due to signs that they show us... dont believe what you hear, just because you heard it does not make it true. stick to what the bible teaches us( its about 2,000 years old after all.. Harold Camping is in his 80's and probably went senile in this 50s)lif you are a believer of God do not fear. no one knows the day nor the hour as he once said. Relax and be a good person

Really FrankWest and other "believers"? The earth has been in tribulation since it's start. You think the wars and terrorism are anything different than ancient wars fought in Europe or Asia. People were killed and tortured at the drop of a hat but no, our more civilized world has it all wrong right? The Dark Ages and the inquisition and the use of human gladiators were signs of the good ol days huh? And as for natural disasters...how do you think the earth was formed? In a seriously violent manner!!! Europeans and native Americans survived ice ages; and, earthquakes and tornados and hurricanes aren't anything new. Actually I'd say they're hmmm...billions of years in the making maybe? The problem today is that aholes like you people now have outlets like tv, Internet, and "family" radio to spread your bullcrap and try to instill fear in people! I'm sorry I never post things but this is pissing me off.

Hello, I read the bible and especially the prophesy pertaining to the end times, first of all , there is no such thing as rapture. Rapture theory was introduced in the early 1800's by a women on her death bed [Margeret McDonald] having feverish dreams, and when she woke up she told the priests there with her, a dream in which she thought christians were being raptured by the LORD. The ministers wrote the information down and tried to confirm it with scripture, and that is how the rapture theory started. It is not biblecal, and rapture is not mentioned in the bible. Second of all, I don't understand why a man claiming to know the bible is proclaiming a rapture on May 21 2011. If you read your bible you know that the end times were laid out for us in Revalation,[If you can understand Revalation], We are in the 5th trump, which is a time of teaching, The bible tells us that at the 6th trump, satan will be cast out of heaven by the arch angel Michael, down here to earth, yes, saton will be here in person, claiming to be Jesus. Acording to Revalation, He will have 5 months to convert christians and sinners alike to his new church. If you are decieved by his tricks, you are doomed. The bible states clearly that Jesus Christ will not return untill the 7th trump, to defeat satans armys, at that time we are all transformed into our spiritual bodies and go to be with the Lord, christians and sinners alike. The lord does not come to rapture his people and then come back to defeat satan, He only comes once, as the bible clearly states. NO RAPTURE. After all this, we have a thousand years of teaching here on earth, then the judgement day and the lake of fire. This is all biblical, don't believe me, read it for your self. The 6th trump hasn't happened yet,and Jesus won't return untill the 7th trump, you figure it out. Harold doesn't even mention the trumps of Revalation. God told us how the end time would be, in Revalation, do you believe the bible or do you believe Harold. Don't be decieved by man, read your bible, then you will know God's truth. If anything does happen May 21, it might be satan being cast out of heaven, NO MAN KNOWES THE TIME.

I feel sorry for the people who think they know when the world is coming to an end. The bible says the angels in heaven don’t no. The sad thing about this these are christians saying this. I don’t know what bible they are reading, but it is not the holy bible. You christian when you make a remark like this you are saying God is lieing, because he said no one knows. So what make you think you know. Read 2nd Thessalonians you need it. You are in my prayers that the binder be taken off your eyes and your ears are open up to the real truth. Ask for forgiveness he is a just God and he will forgive you. Much prayer is needed
