Rick Springfield Busted for DUI

He wishes he had Jessie’s girl…and he wishes he wouldn’t have had that last drink.

A lot of things were more enjoyable in the 80s for Rick Springfield. The hair of the fans–teased. The blood alcohol limit–.10. Springfield is simply a victim of the times.

What is up with these celebrities in Malibu? I have a merciful heart, but when you drink too much and get behind the wheel…it’s a crime in which we all know someone who has been convicted, and a crime in which we would never tell our friend(s), “It’s OK.”

It’s not OK. It’s socially unacceptable. Call a cab. Have someone sober drive you home. Hang out for awhile and sober up. It definitely belongs in the category of “C’mon, man!”

Did the residents of Malibu not learn something from the debacle we know as Mel Gibson? Did they not learn that driving a hot car too fast between dusk and dawn is Hootie Hoo material? Apparently not.

Malibu resident and rock-ish musician, Rick Springfield, was rolling in his 1963 Corvette around 8 p.m. Sunday night, when he was clocked above the speed limit by a L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy. The routine stop revealed that Rick had been kickin’ back a few, and seemed possibly more inebriated than the law would allow. Agreeing to a breathalyzer, Springfield blew a .10–the legal limit in California is .08.

He was arrested, booked and released on $5,000 bond. See there. Cab. 30 bucks. He is due in Malibu court July 5.
