Your gay BFF’s favoritest show on television is slipping in the ratings, possibly due to the interminable pandering, possibly due to hockey games drawing away the core audience.
Glee has hit an all-time ratings low with their pandering Lady Gaga episode, prompting critics to ask, ‘Seriously, why is this so popular? All they do is sing songs and follow a plotline that’s paper-thin by a group of three writers who have completely different character agendas.’ So either Lady Gaga is losing popularity, Glee is losing popularity, or they’re both losing popularity and there is a benevolent spiritual force that safeguards the world from things that are terrible at times.
In addition to Glee scraping the bottom of its ratings bowl (3.4/10, still impressive for other shows, less impressive for Glee), conservatives have been mounting an increasingly angry attack on the show, saying it’s pushing the agenda of anti-Christian homosexuals. As someone who spends a lot of time with people who enjoy Glee – they have no agenda to push. They only want to have a good time. I like how people ascribe grand conspiracy theories to groups who have no interest in cohering to push agendas. If gay people wanted to push their agenda, they wouldn’t do it through Glee.
They’d come to your home and duct-tape you. Stylishly.
