Cindy Dandois is being forced to pull out of a June 18 fight with Gina Carono due to pregnancy. She is three and a half months pregnant. The news broke on MMA Fighting after Saturday night’s Strikeforce event. The announcement was made by CEO Scott Coker.
Today she confirmed the news on Facebook:
“I am so sad I cant take the fight against Gina. It was and still is one of my biggest goals. But on the other hand, it is a blessing from God to get a child an [sic] become a mother again. A child is forever and you must care about a life that is given by the hand of God. I hope I can do the fight after my pregnancy.”
She has not confirmed whether or not she is indeed 3 months pregnant. If this is true that that means she was pregnant during the March 19 fight where she defeated Jorina Baars after a second round TKO.
Coker announced that Strikeforce is “in the process of locking down the other opponent [for Carano] right now.” We should hear word over the next couple of weeks.
