If I ever join politics – I will definitely make sure it’s in Oregon.
A video has been circulating the net that shows state lawmakers sneaking words from Rick Astley’s 1987 hit “Never Gonna Give you Up” into their speeches.
The idea for the prank came from Jefferson Smith, Oregon House member. He convinced other state legislators to take part and then compiled all the lines together over a period of two months into the video below.
The video opens with an introduction:

How did Jefferson Smith convince his colleagues to join in on the prank? “I’m wily” he answered.
Rumors have been circulating that the video isn’t real to which Smith answered, “It was real, and it was really awesome … Democracy is a glorious thing.”
