We’ve all experienced the outrage and panic that consumes us when one of our favorite sites like Twitter or Facebook crashes but what happens when the entire internet goes down without notice? Just ask residents of Georgia and Armenia who experienced the situation this week after a 75-year-old woman accidentally shut down the Internet in these two countries.
So how does one shut down the internet exactly?
Well, authorities say the woman “severed a fiber optic cable late last month, shutting off the internet in much of Georgia and all of Armenia for several hours.”
Apparently the woman was scavenging for copper and has been charged with destruction of property and could face up to three years in prison.
The woman strongly denies the accusations.
