Does anyone else feel like this is some sort of experiment where a performance artist finally makes America realize that after years of pablulum it can’t distinguish between good and bad things anymore?
Rebecca Black is the perfect storm – a YouTube sensation launched viral BECAUSE her singing, video, and rampant auto-tuning highlighted everything severe and distasteful about the contemporary music scene. There are people who work hard mastering their instruments, classical musicians who remain obscure, and really talented singers scraping by – and here was a girl with no substance to be had. She wasn’t making music, more squawking noises befitting to an injured stork before it falls to their death. Even Miley Cyrus had issues with her sudden rise to fame, and when the child of Billy Ray Cyrus thinks it’s too easy to get famous — something is rotten in the state of duckface.
Reports indicate that Black is recording her follow-up single in an Orange County studio. (Ed: OF COURSE she’d be from the OC.) The name of her new single? ‘LOL’. A timeless classic that’ll surely be another slice of media that archaic news outlets highlight as a real thing – despite it not being a real thing.
Nobody will buy Rebecca Black’s real album. We’ll all be burnt out by then.
