Britney Spears is making moves lately.
The one-time pop star had fallen on hard times, shaving her head, attacking passing cars, and not taking care of herself. Now she has the opportunity to do all of that all over again, with her career back on track, and her handlers continuing to pull the strings correctly. Her last single and video were a clusterfuck of too many ideas, product placement, and rando dubstep, and now the new one? She’s back singing in her teenage wispy tones, this time to a tune penned by Ke$ha. That sounds exactly like a Ke$ha song. Thankfully, Ke$ha songs sound catchy as all hell, which’ll mask the weak vocals and sleepwalking effort Britney seems to amble forward with each new release.
I’ll be the first to admit that Britney has a few rapture-worthy moments in pop, but at this point if she doesn’t know how to write her songs, she’s the world’s most overpaid mannequin with a voice. If someone on the intellectual level of Ke$ha can take over the reigns of your songwriting duties, you have some ‘splaining to do.
But damn, the song makes you want to dance, doesn’t it? Oh, Britney. You make me so torn. Decided for yourselves above.

The intellectual level of Ke$ha? What -- because someone sings fun music, they must be stupid? Ke$ha got a 1500 on her Math + Verbal SAT and used to take college classes as a high schooler. She's very smart -- she just isn't pretentious, unlike some music reviewers I know. Also, what is with this fetish for performers writing their own material? Nobody ever criticizes songwriters for being unable to sing. What would songwriters who can't sing do without singers who can't songwrite? They make a great team. Ke$ha's always been a songwriter; she was a writer before she was a performer. Stop being so uptight.
