Nintendo 3DS Sells Out In Japan

Who wants to play a brand new Nintendo 3DS? Well, you can’t. Because people are going nuts for it.

Nintendo has been on top of the console department for years, selling more consoles than Sony and Xbox 360 put together, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change. Gamers have snatched up the initial offering that Nintendo put out, even though it just launched on Saturday. I had an opportunity to look at one during a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 launch party, and the thing is impressive. 3D without the use of 3D glasses? That’s the future. Where you can create a device that’ll project something that didn’t even EXIST before. 400,000 units shipped, 371,326 were sold in the first two days, and the device has only been out since Saturday. That means nearly half of one percent of the population of Japan now owns a DS, and that number is projected to hit 1% very very soon.

Nintendo’s trying to hit the worldwide sales goal of 4 million units by March 31st.

The 3DS will retail for an estimated cost of 250.00 here in the states, features a 5.3 inch gaming screen, and WiFi to connect with the people playing near you. Launch titles include Pilotwings Resort, Madden, Dead or Alive, Super Street Fighter IV, and Nintendogs and Cats.
