Watch Thom Yorke Dance! To Ridiculous Songs!

By Mark Lorenz on February 22nd, 2011

Radiohead released their new album ‘King of Limbs’ last week, and thousands of skinny jeans were stretched with ambivalent hipster erections across the country.

I haven’t heard the album in it’s entirety yet, but rest assured, it sounds like Radiohead. There’ll be eerie, floating vocals, instrumentals that sound by turns overbearing and deeper than the canyons that line the ocean. The lead single is called ‘Lotus Flower’. But this is not why Radiohead’s new album has been bringing the internet joy as of late – although it has to people who’ve downloaded it.

Thom Yorke made a video to hype the lead single, and the interwebs are having a field day recutting his discordant, robotic dance moves to pop music that he’d probably cringe at if he ever heard it. Namely, Beyonce and Willow Smith. Then again, Yorke might surprise all of us by doing a duet with one of them tomorrow.

But until that day happens we have the creative people making rock icons dance to banal pop music. And that’s one of those things that can make you happy. So watch Thom bounce up and down and whip his hair. Know that this is postmodernism at its best. In a nutshell.
